Thank you all for your wonderful comments!! I sat and watched this tiny little spider every day, for several weeks - never catching anything. She was as tiny as a polystyrene bead. Then, one morning (yes I happened to have the camera with me!) I stumbled upon this from beginning to end. I snapped about 50 photos from this moment of stunning the bee - to when it was totally devoured and of no further use - and remains on the ground - it was over in about 5 minutes. Never seen anything like it before! It was so amazing. Chris :)

Wow this is a really good shot. What camera do you use and what lens/settings ect. I can never get close up pics anything like as good as this.

Thanks Cherie for your wonderful comment. I used a Panasonic Lumix FZ5 on macro setting. This spider was so tiny, but I was able to get the camera within a couple of inches to take this photo. I kept shooting the camera until the spider had finished eating the bee. Was amazing to watch - it only took about 5 minutes! Thankyou. Chris :)

An amazing shot. Mother Nature is so interesting - one of the things I've come to appreciate more since I got into photography. No hummingbirds down under? From your portfolio you do have some amazing wildlife, however. And yes, they are tiny: about 2-3 inches long. I'm glad you like her and also the dragonfly. Thank you, and good luck to you.

Chris, I forgot to get back to you yesterday. Sorry! Of course I would be happy to send you some pictures. I don't have but a few. Hummers like nectar (they also eat tiny insects). We have special feeders here for them, and use a mixture of sugar water (purchased or home made). They are greatly attracted to the color red. I particularly grow zinnias (as in the picture) to attract them, but they go to all flowers with a lot of nectar. I do love them. Can't wait to see your kookaburra photo! Please do send me your address and I'll email you some photos.
